If spectacular scenery is high on your list for a ski holiday, then you are in for a treat when you visit the Aosta Valley ski area. The region is home to not one, but three iconic peaks. Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and Monte Rosa all dominate the landscape in the Italian ski region.

There is a great range of Aosta Valley ski resorts that offer a variety of slopes for all abilities. Whether you are an avid on-piste skier, a ski touring fanatic, or enjoy a cruisy blue tree run, there will be a ski resort for all kinds of skiers and snowboarders.

In true Italian style, the choice of restaurants offers delicious dishes, prepared with high-quality local produce. Enjoy a long lunch in the sun sampling local delicacies made in the Aosta Valley in one of the many mountain restaurants. Or, explore the area in a different way, with many exciting non-skiing activities available in each ski resort. From fat-biking to paragliding, you’ll be sure to get your adrenaline fix one way or another!

Pila

Pila is certainly one of the best resorts in Aosta Valley. Just 90 minutes from Turin Airport, it is an easily accessible choice for a weekend break. Known by some as the ‘Rome of the Alps’, Pila is home to more than 70km of immaculate pistes, varying in difficulty. For those who enjoy skiing off-piste, there are acres of terrain ready to be explored. Plus an added benefit, the lift queues are virtually non-existent – even on the weekends!

Situated in the heart of the ski resort, Hotel La Chance offers direct ski-in ski-out access.

Champoluc

Champoluc is another great ski resort in the Aosta Valley, found in the Monterosa ski area. The Monterosa terrain encompasses more than 100km of varied piste, perfect for beginners and experts alike. The ski resort is relatively undiscovered by Brits, making it a great choice for those wanting an authentically Italian escape. Visit Champoluc for practically empty pistes, virtually no lift queues, and excellent skiing. Off the piste, the ski area is known for its superb spas. Immerse yourself in total relaxation by choosing a unique (and necessary) treatment in one of the many fantastic wellness centres.

Found beneath the impressive ‘Monte Bianco’, the highest peak in the Alps, Courmayeur is a ski resort that boasts exceptional skiing and remarkable history. The ski resort is ideal for those who love to explore off-piste, with excellent freeriding opportunities and some of the most beautiful trails of any ski resort in the Aosta Valley. Courmayeur is a charming medieval resort that extends a warm Italian welcome, while also offering a number of great après ski spots. If you have the chance, we recommend visiting the Pré Saint Didier Thermal Baths, a majestic 19th-century spa found at the foot of Mont Blanc.

Cervinia

For fantastic border skiing, Cervinia is a great option, with Zermatt accessible in just a few chairlifts. There are 360km worth of slopes connecting the two ski resorts, offering skiers a plethora of challenging runs across the two. The Matterhorn Mountain is the impressive backdrop to the remarkable ski runs, giving exceptional views from all angles. We recommend descending Reine Blanche, the longest run in the region (22km!). It starts at Klein Matterhorn (3,883m in Switzerland) down to Valtournenche (1,524m in Italy). Cruise your way from one country to the next.

Stay At:
