Courmayeur is practically split between two main ski areas, the Chécrouit side on the west and the Val Veny side on the east. The total ski area encompasses more than 43km of varied piste and is a firm favourite with Ski Solutions clients. The ski area can be reached from the centre of the ski resort and from two sections further up the valley.
Courmayeur is a great choice for a ski holiday in Italy. For those looking for a short transfer from the airport, it is ideal. The ski resort is part of the largest Aosta Valley ski area and can be reached in just 90 minutes from Geneva, making it an attractive weekend destination. It is also a good choice for families and groups with mixed ability levels of skiing. There is a nice balance of green, blue, red, and black slopes. For those looking for a thrilling adventure, Courmayeur is a fantastic ski resort to explore the off-piste. For a truly unforgettable experience in the Italian mountains, why not try heli-skiing? Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or a cruisy beginner, there is a slope for every type of skier. Here is our top pick of the best ski runs in Courmayeur.
Maison Vieille (Blue)
For an easy start to the day, head straight from the centre of Courmayeur up the main gondola. From this peak, there’s an easy-to-navigate network of wide blue slopes. We recommend taking the Maison Vieille lift, which is central to the Chécrouit area of the mountain. This a great section to explore early on to strengthen your ski legs and practice your turns. Head for Piste 15 (Maison Vieille) and traverse your way to the base of the slope. Once you have found your confidence, you could opt for the harder Piste 16 (Stadio Slalom) which finishes in the same area, by Plan Chécrouit.

Le Massif is an excellent stay when considering a ski holiday in Courmayeur. Our clients frequently return for its terrific service, superb facilities, and enviable location.
Lazey (Red)
Once you have built your confidence, there’s a fantastic section of red slopes higher up on the mountain, near Col Chécrouit. This section sits at 2,256m and has excellent terrain during the season. The north-facing position and high-altitude elevation ensure good snow reliability during the winter season. For a long leg-burning slope, start at Piste 20 (Lazey) and navigate your way down through the series of red runs. Many consider this piste one of the best ski runs in Courmayeur, and for good reason. Follow Piste 20 all the way down to Piste 13 in Plan Chécrouit for an incredibly scenic route. Don’t let the name fool you, it will be a serious workout!

Au Coeur des Neiges is a charming collection of chalets and apartments nestled in the centre of Courmayeur. Enjoy the privacy of your own space whilst benefitting from the excellent amenities of a premium quality hotel.
Arp (Red and Black)
For remarkable scenery, visit the highest peak in the ski resort, at 2,755m via the Arp ski lift. On a bluebird day, the views are absolutely breathtaking. There is a dedicated viewpoint where you can unclip from your skis and appreciate the surroundings. Marvel at the Italian valleys before you descend one of the best ski runs in Courmayeur.
From this peak, there are two intermediate runs to choose from, Arp Rossa and Arp Nera, two exciting slopes. It tends to be quieter this high up on the mountain, due to the elevation and ski ability required. This gives the perfect opportunity to take regular breaks to admire the scenery. Traverse your way down Piste 21 and stop off for something to eat or drink at the highest restaurant on the mountain. For the adrenaline junkies, this is where the heli-ski hub is found. Book a knowledgeable guide and experience the mountains in a different way. There’s nothing quite like being dropped onto a snowy peak and exploring the untouched powder away from the crowds.

Situated in one of the most elegant areas of Courmayeur, Hotel Gran Baita is a ten-minute walk away from the centre and offers a calm atmosphere. Submerge in total tranquillity in the indoor/outdoor swimming pool.
Rocce Bianche (Black)
The Rocce Bianche piste (24) is one of the hardest runs in the whole of Courmayeur. The advanced piste starts at 2,256m and has two entrances. If you are up for the challenge, drop into the black slope from the start point or traverse via a red slope. The run curves over to Val Veny on the mountain’s east side. Piste 24 is only one of five black slopes on the ski map, making the area perfect for intermediates and weekend skiers. The black slopes are mostly sandwiched by blue and red slopes, allowing progressing skiers to ‘dip’ into more advanced pistes.
As black slopes go, Rocce Bianche is much more forgiving than most. The piste is wide with some challenging sections, but generally speaking, it is relatively easy. On a good weather day, the views are exceptional. Most of Courmayeur is north-facing, which emphasises the brightness of the mountain across the valley. Be sure to stop during your descent to take your surroundings in and appreciate the remarkable views!
