Paganella – Bolzano – Transfer Time 1 hour
Located in the Trentino region Paganella is a beautiful ski destination. On and off the slopes you can admire spectacular views of the Dolomites. You can access 50km of slopes that are suited for intermediate and beginner skiers. Advanced skiers can enjoy a great range of off-piste terrain in the area. The nightlife and village have a relaxed atmosphere with very low-key après activities. There are some delicious restaurants to visit and welcoming bars.
Gressoney – Turin – Transfer Time 1 hour 25 mins
Situated in the Aosta Valley ski area, Gressoney is a brilliant Italian ski resort near airports. You can explore 180km of pistes in the area, with great slopes for intermediate and expert skiers. In addition, the ski resort has an excellent reputation for its off-piste skiing. Whether you want to experience touring or heli-skiing there are fantastic options. The village itself has a traditional alpine charm and the après only gets lively at the weekends.

Ortisei – Innsbruck – Transfer Time 1 hour 25 mins
Ortisei is part of the Dolomiti ski area and is the biggest village in Val Gardena. In the local area, you can ski 175km of slopes. The pistes are suited to beginner and intermediate skiers with a lot of gentle terrain to progress on. If you buy a full area lift pass you can ski 1,200km with 16 ski areas to enjoy. The town itself is a typical alpine village with welcoming locals. Don’t expect lively nightlife in the area as it is set up for relaxed restaurant dining and chilled bar experiences.

Champoluc – Turin – Transfer Time 1 hour 30 mins
Located in the Aosta Valley, Champoluc is a real hidden gem of the Italian Alps. There is 174km of pistes to enjoy that are perfect for intermediate skiers. You can take in the beautiful mountain backdrop of the iconic Dolomites on and off the slopes. More advanced skiers can enjoy spectacular off-piste opportunities with heliskiing available too. The nightlife is pretty relaxed but there are fantastic bars and restaurants to visit.

Courmayeur – Geneva – Transfer Time 1 hour 30 mins
Courmayeur is one of the most stylish ski resorts in Italy. You can ski just over 40km of slopes in the area which has something for every level of skier. In addition, if you get a full Aosta Valley ski area lift pass you can access neighbouring ski resorts Pila, La Thuile and La Rosière. For the more advanced skiers, there’s also an excellent off-piste in the local area. The great skiing is equally matched with the superb restaurants and bars in the village. There are also brilliant luxury accommodation options.

Pila – Turin – Transfer Time 1 hour 30 mins
Pila is considered a hidden gem in the heart of the Aosta Valley, with 70km of slopes to enjoy. There’s something for every level of skier on the piste map in the ski area. On top of that, there’s fantastic off-piste terrain to enjoy with a local mountain guide. For a smaller ski resort, there are great lively après to enjoy with some fun bars and clubs to visit. If that’s not your scene there are also lovely cosy alpine restaurants with excellent menus.

Sauze d’Oulx – Turin – Transfer Time 1 hour 30 mins
Part of the Milky Way ski area, Sauze d’Oulx is one of the best Italian ski resorts near an airport. You can ski an impressive 400km of slopes with brilliant links to nearby Montgenèvre, Sestriere, and Claviere. The local slopes are mainly suited to intermediate skiers but the vast amount of piste accommodates any level of skier. There are over 30 restaurants in Sauze d’Oulx with excellent Italian cuisine. In addition, the après is also brilliant with a mixture of lively bars and social drinks out.

Val Gardena – Innsbruck – 1 hour 30 mins
For the breath-taking views alone, Val Gardena is a delightful ski destination to visit. On and off the slopes there are stunning mountain ranges to admire that dwarf the area. You can ski 175km in the area, but also enjoy more terrain on the Sella Ronda ski circuit and the Dolomites ski area. There’s something for every level of skier in this ski resort. Of the three villages that make up Val Gardena, Selva di Val Gardena is the most lively with great bars in the area.

Claviere – Turin – Transfer Time 1 hour 45 mins
Positioned in the heart of the Milky Way ski area, Claviere is a charming and peaceful ski resort. You can ski an incredible 400km of slopes in the area, with brilliant links to nearby Montgenèvre, Sestriere and Sauze d’Oulx. It has excellent snow conditions for most of the ski season due to its location and high altitude of 1,350m-2,823m. The local slopes are ideal for beginner and intermediate skiers. Off the slopes, there are lovely cosy bars and restaurants to enjoy a relaxed drink or meal.

Sestriere – Turin – Transfer Time 1 hour 45 mins
Another Italian ski resort near an airport that’s part of the Milky Way is Sestriere. Purpose-built in the 1930s, the ski resort has developed into a modern and trendy ski resort. There are varied activities off the slopes from classy wine bars to lively bars and pubs. The skiing is superb too with an incredible 400km you can access with great links to nearby Montgenèvre, Claviere and Sauze d’Oulx. It has a great reputation as it hosted some events for the 2006 Winter Olympics and still hosts World Cup ski races.

Bardonecchia – Chambery – Transfer Time 1 hour 30 mins
Positioned on the French and Italian border, Bardonecchia is an excellent choice for a ski holiday. It is one of the most beautiful Italian ski resorts near airports. You can ski 100km of slopes in the area with some great runs for beginner and intermediate skiers. If you’re into freestyle skiing Bardonnechia has superb snow park facilities which were featured in the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. Off the slopes, there’s a quiet atmosphere during the week but the bars are restaurants are more lively at the weekends.
