A ski holiday in Canada is the ultimate winter adventure. The country is home to several world-famous ski resorts that offer extraordinary skiing, dramatic scenery, and plenty of Canadian charm. If you’re looking for a real leg burner, discover some of the longest ski runs in Canada.

Last Spike – Revelstoke (15.2km)

The longest ski run in Canada is the Last Spike, in Revelstoke. It is one of the longest lift-served ski slopes in the world and is perfectly suited to all levels of skiers. The Last Spike is the ultimate leg workout, with more than 15km of varied ski terrain to explore. Weave through the trees, dive down the steep slopes, and cruise along the cat tracks, this run has it all. Fortunately, the slope is so long that it’s very rarely busy, meaning you can enjoy it at your own pace.

Revelstoke is one of North America’s hidden gems. The ski destination is the best place to seek Champagne powder and extensive off-piste. Develop your backcountry skills in a stunning setting. The snow-sure conditions are incredible, with several powder bowls, groomed pistes, and superb tree-skiing to choose from.

Peak 2 Creek – Whistler (11.3km)

The Peak 2 Creek is a classic ski run, known by many in North America. Generally, the slope takes around 45 minutes from the top to the bottom, at cruising speed. Some more advanced skiers can complete the run in a much quicker time, however, the views are the best part of the experience, so why not take a leisurely pace and enjoy the ride?

The ski run begins at the top of Whistler Mountain and finishes at the Whistler Creekside gondola. To get there, skiers must ascend the Whistler Village gondola to the Roundhouse Lodge, then get the Peak Express chairlift to Whistler Peak. Alternatively, you can take the Creekside gondola, then the Big Red Express, and then the Peak Express. Either way, you’ll be at the peak of one of the most famous and longest ski runs in Canada.

Whistler is home to the highest ski lift of its kind, the Peak 2 Peak. This ski lift connects the two mountains of Whistler and Blackcomb, spanning almost three miles. Not only can you experience one of the most exhilarating ski runs in the country, but you can also enjoy the thrilling heights of the tallest ski lift in the world. Whistler has so much to offer and should definitely be on your bucket list!

If you are looking for something a bit more challenging, you can shoot off on one of the connecting runs.

Sun Peaks is Canada’s second-largest ski resort, with more than 135km of slopes. The resort has a unique feature being a ‘ski through’ village, where you can ski straight through town without taking your skis off and arrive at your accommodation with ease. The town is relatively low-key, with some lively bars and restaurants, however, most visitors are avid skiers, who want to spend most of their time on the mountain.

Taynton Trail – Panorama (6.5km)

The Taynton Trail is located on the far west side of the Panorama piste map, specifically in the Tayton Bowl. This wide slope is completely tree-lined and descends as far as 6.5km. Intermediates will enjoy this piste, as it is relatively challenging. The slope stands alone and snakes back to the centre of the resort. As the run is relatively isolated to the rest of the piste map, you can expect it to be peacefully quiet and a good choice for a home run.

Panorama is a purpose-designed ski resort, ensuring skiers are never more than five minutes from the mountain, or anything else for that matter. The centre of the resort is virtually car-free and set over two levels that are linked by a free gondola. The atmosphere is relaxed, and no one is in a hurry – except when making first lifts! The ski terrain is a powder hunter’s dream, with huge snowfall throughout the season, it’s the go-to place for any freeride skier.

Stay At:

Be amongst the bustling village of Panorama when you stay at the Panorama Upper Village Condos. The ski-in ski-out hotel is just moments away from the excellent restaurants, bars and shops.
