I am the Managing Director of Ski Solutions and CFO of the wider Active Travel Group, and have been involved with the business since 2018. It’s been somewhat of a dream job for me, as I am a keen skier, cyclist, and walker – all the active holiday pursuits we offer across the Group to our clients!
“It’s been somewhat of a dream job for me, as I am a keen skier, cyclist, and walker…”
I found the joys of skiing in the mid-90s and later in life than most – I was 28 when I first forced myself into a pair of rear-opening boots and strapped on some old, non-carving skis. This was in a part of the world not normally associated with winter sports – Perisher in New South Wales, Australia! I caught the ski bug immediately. Despite the early and late season Aussie skiing being interesting – very soft slush and T-shirt skiing – the core seasons were great and provided many fond, early ski memories.
Best Moment
There are so many great moments over the years, but the top has to be watching my kids mastering the pizza (the snow plough, not the Italian delicacy!). Then on to the French fries (parallel ski, not the worldwide delicacy!). My youngest is now a much faster (and fitter) skier than me.
Top Tip
Try to avoid starting the après-ski before 12 noon, however tough the ski conditions are proving to be. It can get messy, particularly where Génépi liqueur is involved.
