Luke
I joined Ski Solutions in July 2022 and have been working throughout the winter sports industry in various guises since 2005, from teaching snowboarding in Canada to running winter trade shows in London. I now live in a 200-year-old cottage on the outskirts of Goodwood in Chichester, which more closely resembles a mountain chalet than a traditional English cottage – even the garden has skis in it.
My parents were the embodiment of ’80s yuppies, so I was lucky to start skiing around three years old and have been every year since. I’d say it went from being a holiday to something more in 1999 when, at 16, I first tried snowboarding in Banff and realised what I was missing out on. That was when it became something I wanted to do as much as possible. A uni friend suggested taking a break and do a season in Whistler, which turned into two, which turned into making a career from talking to people about the ski industry and winter sports in general. Back in the day, I even entered a few freestyle competitions (and I still have my competition bibs from the BRITS!), but now I tend to ride the whole mountain and not just lap the park while still trying to keep it steezy.

I’m really lucky I have a passion and hobby that has taken to me to so many amazing places and given me some unforgettable experiences. From month-long North American winter road trips to heliskiing and touring in Europe, and riding through the polar lights of Scandinavia… there’s never a bad day on the hill!

Top Tip
A stretch 10-15 minutes before and after will make everything more enjoyable. Also, push yourself to ride switch whenever possible; it will make your natural balance so much better.
Best Moment
I can’t pick a favourite…so many good days on the slopes. Every single resort I’ve been to has a positive memory, but honourable mention to heliskiing twice in one season (Revelstoke and Zermatt).
