Flachau Ski Resort
Flachau is one of the biggest ski resorts in the Ski Amadé region. The ski area has a network of 210km of pistes linked to neighbouring ski resort Wagrain. It’s perfect for intermediate piste skiers with a variety of good red runs on the piste map. It’s also very convenient to travel to with only an hour’s transfer from Salzburg airport.
There are a couple of villages to stay in the area. The Flachau main town is the liveliest area and has a great choice of bars and restaurants. It also has a fantastic range of accommodation to book. For a quieter experience, there’s the smaller village up the valley called Flachauwinkl.
The skiing is mainly for intermediates with plenty of rolling red runs. However, more advanced skiers can try the black runs toward the Alpendorf area. There’s an impressive state-of-the-art chairlift system. Comfy 6 and 8-seater chairlifts are across the piste map.
The resort holds an annual World Cup night slalom in January. The best female slalom skiers in the world battle it out on the Hermann Maier racecourse. Thousands of fans turn out to cheer on their favourite skiers each year. A world-class experience.
