Jackson Hole Ski Resort
Make no mistake, Jackson Hole is the perfect ski resort for those with a wild side. If you’re after extreme thrills, try spending one day on this fiery mountain in the Wild West: you’ll never want to leave.
Jackson Hole brings new definition to the word steep – and when you add a tonne of powder and some big bumps into the mix, that’s a day in the life of a Jackson Hole fan. Steep chutes, severe bowls, untracked backcountry. Rendezvous Mountain is mainly made up of black runs, and the famous Corbet’s Couloir starts with a heart-stopping four-metre drop-in. There’s also a big back-country ski touring programme here with European-style mountain guiding. Those less brave or experienced will enjoy Jackson’s Après-Vous mountain with its supply of winding, groomed blues in and out of the woods, with more gentle blacks to graduate on to. But even here there are some steep runs to enjoy.
The town of Jackson breathes Wild West, with its clapboard buildings, wooden sidewalks and saloon bars complete with swinging doors, horse saddle stools and live music. The ski resort itself is a twenty-minute drive away in Teton Village, nestled at the base of the slopes. Recently expanded, there’s a happy après-ski scene here and some classic American steakhouses. More eateries can be found in Jackson town including tapas, Italian, seafood and ribs.
