Ski resorts across the globe have opened and gotten into the swing of the season now the festive period is over. As we welcome the new year, we also welcome excellent snow conditions across our ski resorts in North America and Europe. The base layer of snow has settled, giving great ski terrain to our clients in December. Now we are seeing the ‘top-up’ snow arriving, and we are so excited for the remainder of the season.
January tends to be a reliable month to ski, as it benefits from the early season snow and the slopes are quieter after the festive break. Some of our team have had the privilege of visiting ski resorts in Europe in the run-up to Christmas. They have confirmed the excellent conditions in the Three Valleys, Courmayeur, Val d’Isère, Geilo, Champoluc, Lech, and Avoriaz, to name a few!
Plenty of fresh snow in the French Alps
Val d’Isère has had a fantastic start to the season 2023/24. The lifts opened on 2 December and have seen an impressive amount of snow, which is continuing into January. More than 40cm of fresh snow will lay this week alone. Neighbouring Tignes is due to receive the same amount, making the region an excellent choice for a January ski trip.
North to Val d’Isère and Tignes, both Les Arcs and La Plagne are forecasted more than 40cm of fresh snow too. This additional dump will take Les Arcs upper snow depth to 320cm, a very healthy amount for the beginning of the season.

Is Austria where you should head?
The snow is not just covering France, Austria is seeing a significant amount arriving in Zürs, Obertauern, and Kühtai. With a whopping 330cm of upper snow depth (some of the highest recorded so far this season!), Zürs is a fantastic option to get your ski fix this season. The ski resort has access to more than 300km of varied ski terrain and excellent conditions at the moment. It is also the exclusive sister village to Lech and is just ten minutes from popular St. Anton.

A great start in Scandinavia
Looking at Scandinavian ski regions, Norway has seen a large influx of fresh snow arriving in the eastern part of the country. In particular, Norefjell welcomes 25cm of new snow to the ski resort. The ski area opened in early December and has been welcoming skiers to the snowy region every week since.
